EARLY FRIENDSHIP WITH DWARFS
Kwabena Abebresse started school at Agona Akrofoso.
In his infancy he was identified as an introvert. He often shunned
the company of other pupils but he was industrious. In his solitary
moments he could see himself playing with some strange children. Sometimes
they would be playing with marbles or would be in the sand. They would
be scribbling anything at all in the sand. Little did he know that
those strange children were not visible to the other children. He
did not or could not narrate these strange expenences to anybody,
not even the mother.
This strange encounter became more manifested when he was in middle
school, form two. His mother's sister Afia. Badu often made him work
in her farm for a token of money. The farm popularly referred to as
Dompoase was just behind his school building. It has not been his
wont to be associating himself with others so he used to be going
to the farm to work alone. But then Afia Badu marvelled at the output
of work he did in a day. Obviously the work was not within the capacity
of a single person. 'Kwabena, do you come to work with somebody else?'
Afia Badu would ask him. His reply had always been negative. >>
