DWARFS ABSCOND LITTLE ABASS
Nana Kwabena Abebresse (popularly known as
Alhaji Abass or Nana Abass) was born on 27th September 1962 to Opanin
Kwabena Abebresse and Adwoa Bruku at Agona Akrofoso Akyempen (Komfo
Anokye-Pomaam) in Ashanti region, Ghana.
Adwoa Bruku delayed in childbirth. The first child was even acquired
through a divine intervention. She had three children in all; Kwabena
Abebresse being the second child. She actually had a sort of intimate
affection for her children. This made the children attach themselves
more closely to her than the father.
She practised subsistence farming. Such farmers normally have a cleared
piece of land under some shady tree or a-stump where they rest, cook
food or pack their foodstuff into baskets. When Kwabena was eight
months old Adwoa Bruku carried him on her back to farm to work. She
placed him on an improvised mat under some shady tree where she normally
rested, while working in the vicinity. When she returned Kwabena Abebresse
was mysteriously nowhere to be found. Adwoa became hysterical as motherly
instinct was at-work. "who, might have playfully taken.. >>
